DBA IV/45 Mamluk Egyptian 1250-1517AD

Screaming Mamluks!!! Here's our fearsome Mamluk Army, mega heavy on the Cavalry, so lots of mobility. Two elements of Light Horse with the option of another gives an impressive TEN bases of Horse Warriors. We've used these in some of our battles & they have performed very well.

DBA 15-19K Imperial/Spanish vs French

Italian Wars clash now, Imperial/Spanish vs the French. Jack would be the French, he set the terrain. A Wood & some fields which would be treated as 'Rough'. Being Cavalry mad, Jack took all the Knights for his French Army. He took a lot of Psiloi as well. For the Imperials, I went with 4 Pike elements to go with the 4 Shot selections.

.
Initial set-up. The French at the top. Imperial the bottom. Jack Psiloi would hug the rough. I put out a Blade element to counter his attempt to out flank me. My horse elements would try to sweep the left flank.
.....
The Imperial/Spanish line up. Pike/Shot to get the extra combat bonus.

.
The French, Jack would be going for a Knight steam roller on his left flank...... Jacks got too many Shot elements instead of Xbows. I let it go as we've set up now, :o)

The ground shakes to the sound of the Spanish Imperials advance!
.
Jacks Psiloi leg it to the wood.....
.
Aha!! My Pistols & Knights split away from the main body.
.
The lines just before the clash.

The Pistols & Knights line up to attack, but the advantage would be with the Psiloi......  I'll wait just a few more turns.
.
The Artillery opens up on both sides. Good rolls for the Imperials force the French troops back.
.
Success!! The Spanish Shot doubled up blasts away a French Knight element on my right...
.
Vengeance.... Jacks annoyed & is itching to charge both his remaining Knights into the Landsknect Pike.
.
The firepower from the Spanish Imperials is too much for the French, recoils abound from all over the battlefield.

.
It's Jacks turn & his Blades look for an easy kill.
.
Birds eye view. My line is solid, Jacks French are all over.
.
Nice shot of the Landsknecht Artillery pounding away at French Shot.
.
Another turn, in go Jacks Blades & make short work of the Landsknect Pike.
.
One moment Jack has French Gendarmes happily fighting........

.....the next they are wiped out by Landsknect Pike!! For once I have some cracking combat rolls!! Victory is near for the Spanish Imperials.
.
Whoops....!!! The French flank is wide open. Jacks not a happy bunny & resorts to various taunts & insults....
.
Come on.... One more kill needed, in go the Pistols & Knight..... But victory will have to wait, Jacks die is the Red one - the skull on the black die is mine & it's not a six.
.
I'm not going to lose this one. I just need to get that right flank swung round....
.
The Spanish Shot hurl abuse at the French Artillery!
.
The French troops advance, the Imperials give ground.
The frustration level rises... So close to victory.
...
Patience pays off & a Swiss Pike element loses out to the Landsknects. Victory 4 - 2!!!

A nice battle with obviously a good outcome for me. Far too much Psiloi for Jack & he failed too do anything with the majority of them. Horsemen, once again, always lose when fighting head on to Pike & Shot. I must remember not to charge in to Psiloi when they are in Rough, as I always lose... Very colourful, we'll definitely run a BBDBA Italian Wars Battle soon!!
